Our Story

Nanette Veldsman is a contemporary jewellery designer and manufacturer living and working in Simondium, South Africa. She completed her BA (FA) in Creative Jewellery Design and Metal Techniques and her MA in Visual Arts degree (Cum Laude) at the University of Stellenbosch. She attended the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam, Netherlands, as an exchange student. She was a full-time lecturer in the Jewellery Design Division at University of Stellenbosch for several years before she opened her studio.

'I have always been surrounded by creative and inspiring people. I have a grandmother that has been painting, building and making since I can remember, a mother that bakes, cooks, gardens and farms. A father with an immense general knowledge – reading and research is a part of life. Jewellery as a discipline followed when I decided to do a BA degree in Fine Arts at Stellenbosch University, where Jewellery Design is one of the specialties offered. Thinking of jewellery as small 3D sculptures sparked my interest in jewellery design. I then decided to follow the course and develop the skill set.'

The studio is a beautiful sun-filled creative space where Nanette Veldsman designs and makes her collections and bespoke pieces. She is assisted by Studio Manager and Goldsmith, Erne Louw (BA (VA) in Creative Jewellery Design and Metal Techniques. The studio is open by appointment only.
